Volunteer Schedule

The Friends of Cedar Hill Park have been active in maintaining the natural areas of the Park since 2006. Our work is done in the natural areas of the Park outside golf course boundaries under the Saanich Pulling Together Volunteer Program.

Weekly invasive species removal at preplanned areas of the Park: We work under the direction of Lead Steward, Jim Moores every Monday morning from 9 am until 12 noon. Please let us know if you would like to join us through our email address: FriendsofCedarHillPark@gmail.com

Monday (Feb 19th) we’ll continue working along the east side of the chip trail north of Camrose Crescent towards Derby Road.  We’ll continue clipping the blackberry, ivy and Daphne from the area where we stopped last Monday.  We’ll go as far as we did last year, leaving the existing buffer by the 3rd hole.  Clip the blackberry tight to the ground and chop it up some so it lies on the ground as this aids in rotting.  Clip the ivy from the oaks & rock outcrops on the west side of the trail (small area marked on map).  Watch where you step as the native plants have sprouted.  If we finish we can clip the invasives on both sides of the chip trail up to Derby.  If driving you can park on Camrose or Derby.  Access is off Maplewood.  The areas are shown on the attached map.  Usual time is 9:00 am to noon.  Meet at our Pulling Together sign board.  Hope to see you there for any time you can spare.

Thank you for your volunteer work.

At your request, we will add you to our weekly email to advise where we will meet. You will need good boots, old clothes and garden gloves. We will provide the necessary tools. No experience is necessary.
