The Friends of Cedar Hill Park have been active in maintaining the natural areas of the Park since 2006. Our work is done in the natural areas of the Park outside golf course boundaries under the Saanich Pulling Together Volunteer Program.
Weekly invasive species removal at preplanned areas of the Park: We work under the direction of Lead Steward, Jim Moores every Monday morning from 9 am until 12 noon. Please let us know if you would like to join us through our email address: FriendsofCedarHillPark@gmail.com
On Monday, September 17, we’ll work in an area a little more north starting near the No. 14 hole and working northward along both sides of the chip trail and along the James Heights trail entrance. We’ve worked here before cutting any blackberry that has sprouted and other invasive plants such as Daphne, ivy, broom. Most of the broom is gone but there are some sprouts. The sides of the James Heights entrance trail has a great showing of camas in the spring as well as some patches of fawn lily. Watch for golfers as the holes and fairway are nearby and players will be driving towards us and along the fairway to No. 15 hole.
Usual time is 9:00 am to noon. Meet near our Pulling Together sign board beside the chip trail.
If driving there is some parking on James Heights. Access is off Maplewood.
Thank you for your volunteer time & work!
At your request, we will add you to our weekly email to advise where we will meet. You will need good boots, old clothes and garden gloves. We will provide the necessary tools. No experience is necessary.
