The Friends of Cedar Hill Park have been active in maintaining the natural areas of the Park since 2006. Our work is done in the natural areas of the Park outside golf course boundaries under the Saanich Pulling Together Volunteer Program.
Weekly invasive species removal at preplanned areas of the Park: We work under the direction of Lead Steward, Jim Moores every Monday morning from 9 am until 12 noon. Please let us know if you would like to join us through our email address: FriendsofCedarHillPark@gmail.com
On Monday, October 16th we’ll continue working south along the east chip trail starting wherever we stopped on October 2nd. We’ll work southward to Derby street. We’ll clip the blackberry that has sprouted along the chain-link fencing and everywhere else. Clip any ivy creeping up the trees. Where we dragged the cut holly trees to the edge of the storage area by the end of the chain-link fence, we would like to cut those trunks up and place them on the debris pile. The areas are marked on the attached map.
Usual time is 9:00 am to noon. Meet at our Pulling Together sign board on the chip trail. Hope to see you there for any time you can spare. Thank you for your work.
At your request, we will add you to our weekly email to advise where we will meet. You will need good boots, old clothes and garden gloves. We will provide the necessary tools. No experience is necessary.
If you are interested on helping us and you have not yet signed "The Corporation of the District of Saanich - RELEASE OF LIABILITY, WAIVER OF CLAIMS, ASSUMPTION OF RISKS AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT", please print the form and bring a signed copy (or email us and we will bring a form for your signature) to the next event.
