The Friends of Cedar Hill Park is a community-based non-profit Society. The Friends group formed in 2006 to maintain the natural areas of Cedar Hill Park. It became a Society in 2014 to expand its membership and to engage more broadly with the community and the Municipality to preserve the Park. To read our constitution, please click here.
We continue the tradition of community action that led to the purchase of the parkland by the Municipality in 1967, saving the Park from subdivision development. We are committed to preserving the Park’s lands and waterways with the Municipality of Saanich. In 2014 our members and community asked Council to save the green fields and slopes behind the Recreation Centre from development. In the same year, a group of our members persuaded Council to stop residential development in favour of expanding the Park to incorporate sensitive wetlands north of Kings Pond.
We believe that our community and Municipality should preserve our park for future generations in perpetuity through a declaration we call The Charter for Cedar Hill Park. Please click here to review our Charter.

Our Society is affiliated with local Community Associations and the Bowker Creek Initiative. We support their efforts to preserve the park and the watercourses flowing into other communities in Greater Victoria. To view links to these organizations, please click here.
